The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA) remains one of the largest subspecialty societies in anesthesiology.Its mission is to be the premier organization that addresses the clinical and professional educational needs of physicians and scientists; assures excellence in patient care utilizing regional anesthesia and pain medicine; and investigates the scientific basis of the specialty.
The American Society of Regional Anesthesia was founded on August 2, 1923. In 1939, ASRA merged with the ASA. The Society was reborn in 1975. ASRA is the largest subspecialty society in anesthesiology. There are approximately 5500 members, including physicians and scientists and a rich international distribution.
