Formerly known as the ASM Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases Research Meeting, the 2017 ASM Biothreats: Research, Response, and Policy meeting (February 6–8, 2017, Marriott Wardman Park, Washington, DC) will discuss a wide-range of biological threats and emerging infectious diseases to stimulate knowledge-sharing amongst stakeholders in academia, industry and government; and to help the overlapping communities prepare for, mitigate, and prevent these global threats. This year, the meeting incorporates three major tracks, “Research, Response, and Policy” to cover relevant topics in basic and applied research; public health, emergency response and preparedness; and biosecurity, government, and policy responses. The exchange between these multidisciplinary communities will shape the future of this very important field.
