Currently Ukraine is undergoing many changes, including the signing of the association treaty with the European Union by Ukraine’s newly elected president Petro Porochenko. Te association treaty clears the way to a free trade agreement. Furthermore the new President has announced many new reforms in the constitution.
President Poroshenko said Ukraine had paid “the highest possible price” to sign the free trade agreement with the EU. Calling the measure “historic,” he said it was the second most important development in Ukraine following its creation with the 1991 break up of the Soviet Union.
The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) is part of the Association Agreement (AA) between the EU and the Republic of Ukraine, one of EU’s the most ambitious bilateral agreements yet.
