Until recently, the opportunity to have a celebrity attend an event, attach themselves to a name-brand or endorse a certain product or idea was untouchable. The thought of paying a person to promote a product was seen as something only Fortune 500 companies could afford. Social media has changed all that with brands and businesses utilizing celebrity influencers to connect directly with their demographics and increase sales and profits.
Nigeria is seriously pursuing a transformation agenda in all the sectors of her economy. The Agriculture and allied sectors are one of the sectors where this agenda has started yielding the desired fruits. According to the government; "to achieve this, we made some fundamental paradigm shifts. We ended the approach of treating agriculture as a development program. We now treat agriculture as a business. We have also ended the era of government crowding out the private sector. The role of government is to provide the needed enabling environment, policies and incentives for a private-sector led agricultural transformation to unlock the potential of Nigeria's agriculture. Our approach is for the government to enable the private sector to grow the agriculture sector, noting that farmers are the largest private sector participants."
