Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair Opens With 4,000 exhibitors
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s 26th edition of the Hong Kong Gifts Premium Fair recorded attendance of more than 4,000 exhibitors during the event, which was held April 27-30 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The four-day event, the largest of its kind in the industry, was held concurrently with the Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair at AsiaWorld-Expo.
Vice chairman of the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association, Benson Pau, said, “Hong Kong’s gift exports jumped 17 percent to HK$155.7 billion last year. … Reflecting closer cooperation between Hong Kong and emerging markets, Hong Kong exported HK$1,950 million worth of gifts to Russia last year, a 106-percent increase over 2009. Gift exports to Turkey, India and Poland recorded growth of 54, 31 and 25 percent respectively.”
Until recently, the opportunity to have a celebrity attend an event, attach themselves to a name-brand or endorse a certain product or idea was untouchable. The thought of paying a person to promote a product was seen as something only Fortune 500 companies could afford. Social media has changed all that with brands and businesses utilizing celebrity influencers to connect directly with their demographics and increase sales and profits.
