Susan Huff, director of global conventions for Medtronic, was named president of the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association (HCEA) for 2012-2013. Huff assumed the role of HCEA president during the 2012 HCEA Annual Meeting that was held June 23-26 in Orlando. Huff has been in the convention industry for almost 30 years, working for Medtronic for 25 of those years, and has held a variety of convention-related positions. The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) 40th Annual Conference, known as IMPACT 2012, held their first international event May 26-31 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. When the American Psychiatric Association Heart Rhythm Society recently held their annual meetings, they decided to leave a lasting impact and give back to the local host communities. The APA’s meeting was held May 5-9 at Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania Convention Center and the association made a pledge to make a group donation to the Philadelphia Mental Health Center at the culmination of the event.
