Meet Taiwan Secures MICE Deal Through Japan Roadshow

August 25, 2015

Meet Taiwan, the MICE promotion programme led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, recently conducted a roadshow in Japan, visiting the cities of Osaka and Fukuoka. Targeting corporate meeting planners and key product suppliers in Japan, Meet Taiwan organised business-matching meetings, presentations and networking activities – linking six Taiwanese MICE organisations with Japanese partners. The initiative also resulted in the confirmation of an incentive group which will bring over 1,000 Japanese delegates to Taiwan.

Japan is one of Taiwan’s largest MICE visitor source markets. Last year, Taiwan attracted more than 1.6 million Japanese tourists, up by 15% year-on-year. It is also the second highest growth rate for five consecutive years. Large Japanese corporations, such as Suzuki Motor Corporation, Asante Group and Panasonic Corporation, also held events in Taiwan recently.

As event professionals, our job is to host people and while we can’t prepare for everything, it’s essential to develop an emergency plan that can be adapted to any situation. In Boston, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority’s (MCCA) Public Safety Team at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the Hynes Convention Center, have taken their experiences to develop a comprehensive crisis management training program, starting with crisis communications.
