Reed Exhibitions Acquires Mexico-based Beauty, Lighting Shows

March 18, 2014

Reed Exhibitions has scooped up two shows in Mexico - Expo Beauty Show and Expo Lighting America Show – expanding its portfolio in the country even more.

The combined events attract more than 300 exhibitors and 70,000 attendees each year and occupy more than 20,000 net square meters of annual exhibit space in Mexico City.

The two new events join Reed's existing portfolio in - Expo Seguridad (acquired in 2011) that runs April 8-19  in Mexico City and Expo Ferretera (acquired in 2013) that runs Aug. 28-30 in Guadalajara.

Last May, Reed also acquired Expo Nacional Ferretera, the largest event in the region serving the hardware, construction and electrical markets.

"Mexico is a vibrant market and a strategic focus for Reed Exhibitions. These two events add scale and capabilities in support of our growing business platform in Mexico," said Nancy Walsh, executive vice president for Reed Exhibitions, North America.

Walsh, who oversees Reed Exhibitions' expansion into Mexico, said the company's primary focus is creating greater value for the customers and the companies doing business in Mexico.

"But just as important, it is our desire to increasingly open an international window for our customers. Reed Exhibitions' scale as the world's leading event organizer allows us to deliver resources, opportunities and new relationships in an unprecedented way,” Walsh said.

Expo Beauty Show, in its 18th year, is the leading beauty show in Mexico serving the hair care and beauty salon industries.

Expo Lighting America was launched in 2010, and has proven successful as it has grown each year since launch. ELA is the only show in Mexico solely focused on commercial and domestic lighting.

Both EBS and ELA are held at the Centro Banamex in Mexico City.

Jorge Fernando Rodriguez Cerdan and Luis Alfonso Mexia Trimayer, owners of the events, will continue to provide oversight and guidance.

Additionally, Reed will hire all 12 of the Mexico-based staff to provide continuity on the events and strengthen the company's bench of talent in Mexico.

"We look forward to joining with a truly global organizer like Reed Exhibitions," Rodriguez Cerdan said. "We share their vision of enhancing customer value and believe that together we can deliver even better events."
