UBM Pharmaceutical Show Expands to SE Asia
Event organiser UBM Live, a subsidiary of UBM, unveiled the new CPhI South East Asia to take place in Jakarta next year. The debut exhibition is the latest geo-clone of UBM’s pharmaceutical exhibitions CPhI, which also includes CPhI India, Japan, China, South America and Worldwide.
CPhI South East Asia will be hosted at the Jakarta International Expo and run from May 10-12. UBM reports that Indonesia’s pharmaceutical market grew 10 percent last year and was valued at approximately US$3.9 billion. Exhibitor categories at the inaugural show will range from APIs, natural extracts to fine chemicals.
Greg Kerwin, UBM Pharma’s portfolio director, said, “Indonesia is the ideal location for the introduction of a new CPhI event. The Southeast Asia region is an exceptional example of a ‘pharmerging’ market and we feel that it is key to establish presence here at this time. ... The pharmaceutical market is growing across the region, and the increased demand for pharma raw materials offers great potential for international suppliers to expand their footprint in the ASEAN companies.”
Until recently, the opportunity to have a celebrity attend an event, attach themselves to a name-brand or endorse a certain product or idea was untouchable. The thought of paying a person to promote a product was seen as something only Fortune 500 companies could afford. Social media has changed all that with brands and businesses utilizing celebrity influencers to connect directly with their demographics and increase sales and profits.
