2006 Homebuyer Expo Attracts Prospective Homebuyers

June is National Homeownership Month, and as part of celebrating homeownership, Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) is hosting its 2006 Homebuyer Expo on Saturday, June 10, 2006, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.  Exhibit booths are available at $25 for nonprofits and $50 for for-profits. Partnership opportunities are also available from $500 - $1500. 

The event which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Hall E1-West Building of the Convention Center is free for consumers and presents opportunities to match prospective homebuyers with companies and organizations involved in the home-buying process, including Realtors, lenders, credit counselors, home inspectors, builders, home security providers, interior and exterior home product companies and other housing services.

A Critical Evaluation of Your Web Site's Performance

Define your goals for your website before you actually set about the task of designing a website. Know your intentions before you begin the construction and also be aware of the areas you feel you may be strong, and weak in. A game plan is always a wise thing to have right off the bat.

Steps must be taken to meet your bottom line. Is your aim to sell a product, represent a service, or a host of other things? If it is then look to the people who visit your site. Who are they? Why do they come? What do they do while they are there? Ask yourself all of these questions and dig deep to find the answers. The number of people who visit your site is an excellent indicator of how well you are doing business wise.

But traffic is not enough. You need things to take place while your visitors are actually visiting. Purchases at your site are called the site conversion rate. What is that exactly? Read on and I will explain it to you.

You can easily calculate the site conversion rate by taking the amount of traffic per month and figuring out from that how many people actually did something significant to your purposes while they were at your website (such as buy something).

Is it your express wish that guests to your website will fill out some kind of form upon their visit to your little corner of cyberspace? If so then realize that even if somebody fills out the form this doesn't guarantee that they will eventually become a customer of yours. This is the

difference between the site conversion rate and the sales conversion rate. The site conversion rate, after all is said and done, teaches you more in the long run.

If traffic is not coming rapidly enough to your site, don't despair, think strategy instead. One way to improve your website performance is to put a great deal of effort into a search engine optimization strategy. Get to work. Web searchers should find your pages much quicker this way and might be persuaded to stay longer. Browsing might lead to buying which is always good!

Is your website conveying the message(s) you want it to? How about this question- is it easy to meander through your website and to read everything that is there? Or is your site a labyrinth of tunnels, caves and utter confusion? If it is like the maze in the movie "The Shining" something has to be done, and quickly! Put yourself in your customer's position when designing your site. Try to look at it as critically as someone else might. No one will waste time at a site that confuses them from the second they arrive at it. Would you?

There are professional trained to know everything there is to know about website performance. Don't be afraid to admit you need help. We all do on occasion. Seek the assistance you need and then watch your profits steadily climb!

Greetings Exhibitors & Show Organizers

We spend a lot of our trade show time asking questions. Bill Sell, of Pulver Media was good enough to remind me that there are some questions we need to ask show organizers.

Exhibitors are in the driver’s seat when it comes to creating interesting and value-oriented exhibit programs. Savvy exhibitors will be pro-active and ask show management about co-op marketing funds that might be available. Maybe show managers have guest tickets available and would be willing to mail them on behalf of the exhibitor at the show’s expense to invite customers and prospects.

The trick is to think like a show organizer. You share some common goals. Both of you want to attract large numbers of a specific target audience. How can you help each other?

Consider joint press and media releases. By working together, you can create a release that gets the event coverage – and spotlights your new product as one of the many great new things visitors will want to see. Teaming up this way also minimizes your costs and labor, as wire service fees and press release posting logistics can be split between the two organizations.

When we talk about obtaining attendee information or as we refer to in our industry lead retrieval services, the trade show and exposition market has come a long way.  From the noble business card exchange to carbon card press to manual hand-written notations; these rudimentary data gathering methods did served their purpose but, one thing was getting the leads, and another was to make use of it.  Veterans in the industry may still remember coming back to the office and handing off the information to a secretary assistant, if they were lucky or processing the data themselves.

Fast forward to recent years and today’s lead retrieval world makes use of newer technologies such as, magnetically encoded cards, smart cards and barcode encoded badges combined with wireless readers and Internet connections.  So, how is this technological interaction affecting the trade show industry? Well, let’s start with our need for instant gratification.  Today’s society seeks instant results in just about everything we do and want; instant on-line payments, real time stocks and weather reports, real time football scores on ESPN’s website, and instant coffee!  Lets face it, our life style is based on immediate results.

The lead retrieval business is following the same concept.  Once the exhibitor finds that hot lead, he or she would like to make use of the data right away!  Innovative technology such as Instant Leads, provided by American Exposition Technologies make this possible by providing exhibitors with a light-weight hand-held scanner which is utilized to read the identification barcode assigned to each attendee’s badge. 

Once the barcode is scanned, the lead data is automatically sent wirelessly from the in-booth scanner directly to a data center at the show exhibitor service center. The data is then sent to a web server and made available to the exhibitor OR instantly sent one lead at a time to a preselected email address.  Every batch of data is strategically encoded to ensure that gathered information is only accessible to its owner.

By making the data instantly accessible, the exhibitors and prospective clients are able to establish an immediate supplier-customer relationship by delivering rapid feedback, service, and client acknowledgement which is crucial in the sales environment. Sales management can use Instant Leads to track their sales people, on-going lead collection and measure activity levels during a show.   In this instance, personnel supervisors or managers can log into the website designated to receive the leads and review each lead as it is being collected on each of the scanners utilized by their sales people.  One of the nice features about this utility is that the scanner identification number, collection date and time is embedded with each lead, thus; providing full activity feedback.

Making in-booth lead data instantly available to exhibitors will enable booth staff and sales management to measure real time, the quality and effectiveness of any trade show booth program.
