Tips for Trade Show Rentals
By Rena Klingenberg
|
|
Trade show rentals allow you more flexibility and the opportunity to change your booth with every expo if you wish. You can rent nearly any booth components, from portable pop-ups to completely custom looks.
Why is it advantageous to change your displays frequently? Your customers will visit you at more than one expo to see what's new. It's important to be able to show new products or services and an updated look. If you always have the same old thing for them to see, why should they keep stopping by?
Renting trade show structures lends your company the flexibility to change often, showing customers that you keep up with the latest innovations. It's simply not cost effective to purchase new booth components for every show.
Rentals cost approximately 10 to 20 percent of the price of purchasing new exhibits outright. Renting your exhibit also removes costs of cleaning, repairing, and storing your booth components.
You don't have to refurbish your displays after each show if you're renting them. The exhibits come fresh from the vendor, in ready to use condition.
And you don't have the expense and hassle of storing bulky trade show booth exhibits if you're renting them. Instead, the vendor ships your rental displays before the show, and you ship them back afterward.
However, if you rent exhibits more than three or four times per year, it may be more cost effective for you to purchase a portable booth setup and re-use it for each show. Map out your costs for each option to find out whether renting exhibits several times a year is less costly for you than purchasing portable displays.
Another good reason for opting in favor of trade show rentals is the flexibility of signing up for different booth spaces, sizes or configurations at different shows. If this flexibility suits your business, then using a different rental exhibit that's appropriate for each expo is the best solution.
Also, if two groups from your company exhibit at more than one trade show on the same dates, leased exhibits are the answer for at least one of the shows.
Renting your booth components also means that less of your budget needs to be used for the purchase and maintenance of displays. Instead, you can increase your allotment for promotional trade show giveaways, entertaining customers, hosting a hospitality event after hours at a trade show, and contacting customers before and after the expo.
However, there are a few disadvantages to using trade show rentals. If you aren't purchasing your displays, you're restricted to the rental components available. And you aren't free to have the entire exhibit customized.
When renting trade show exhibits, check with the display leasing company for any hidden fees, or penalties if the show falls through and you don't need the rental after all.

Marketing Tips for More Sales
By Scott F. Geld
What kind of things can you do to bring in more sales to your company or business? There are actually several simple ways that you can improve your sales. Increasing sales does not have to be all about spending a lot of money. In fact, there are many low cost things that you can do that will have a huge impact on your sales.
Do some spring cleaning. Make sure that what your customers see is clean and tidy. Messy spaces suggest to your customers that you are disorganized and uncaring. Create a professional feel by keeping a well maintained and clean environment. If you offer restrooms for your customers to use, make sure that they are well-stocked and in good repair. Your customers will not be impressed if you can't even keep the toilet paper stocked! What does this say about your attention to detail and your customer care standards?
Restrooms should also be very clean with proper toiletries and other things that are needed. There is nothing worse than visiting a business and using the restroom to find there is no toilet paper or paper towels. It can be a poor first impression and may lead someone to leave your business or store.
One of the key points that encourages consumers to buy from a certain company is their after sales service. There is nothing more frustrating than being unable to get hold of someone if you need them. Make sure that you have a readily available phone number and trained people to answer the phone. Similarly make sure that you respond to any issues promptly.
If you have an automated phone system you should make an easy way for a person to opt out and talk to an actual person. Many people get frustrated with automated phone systems and they want to speak to an actual person. Giving them this option, even if it is just to leave a voice mail, they will be happier.
Another great idea is to be friendly, smile often and complement your customers. Ask them their names and then be sure to call them by name often when you are talking to them. You might find something to complement them on which will make them feel good and will increase their mood.

Increase the ROI on your networking
By Helen Wilkie
Networking requires an investment of time, money and effort. Here are four ways to be sure your return on that investment is worthwhile.
Decide what you want
Why are your attending networking events? Are you looking for a new job? More business? Social contacts in a new home town? Whatever your purpose, stay focused on it, or things can slide into just another long lunch.
Attend the right event
If you are, say, a graphic designed looking for clients, why spend your time at an event for graphic designers? OK, you might be able to pick up some overload business from some designer who is super busy, but that's a very small poor to fish in. You'd be much better off mixing with folks from businesses who use design work. Seems obvious, but it's surprising how many people make this mistake.
Talk to the right people
Don't spend your valuable networking time chatting to people you already know, who ar not in your traget group. It's tempting, of course, because it's easy and funbut it's not networking! Look for new people and make the effort to meet and greet them.
Keep track of your results
Every month or so, track back through your networking opportunities. Who did you meet? Where did you meet them? How did they fit with your reasons for being there? Did anyone help you achieve your objective?
Of course, you'll also meet people who are pleasant additions to your social circle, some of whom may even become friends. Do include them in your success picture, but if you find you make more casual acquaintances than the people you are there to meet, you may need to change your networking activites so that they bring you a higher Return On Investment.
