UBM Expands Footprint in Shanghai

July 29, 2015

International exhibition organiser, UBM plc, has detailed plans to expand its business in Shanghai in the coming years, by moving and growing existing shows, completing new acquisitions and launching shows.

UBM Asia announced plans to move its annual Shanghai International Children Baby Maternity Industry Expo (CBME China) from Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) to National Exhibition & Convention Center (NECC) in Hongqiao in 2016 in order to gain access to NECC’s larger capacity.

The company also moved Sign China, LED China and LED Lighting China from Guangzhou to Shanghai this year.

UBM acquired the China International Printing Industry Exhibition (CSTPF) from SUNEXPO in January 2015, which was held in April and covered 11,500 m2 of space.

UBM also launched a new event this year, the China Railway + Transit Exhibition and Conference (CRTEC) which was co-located with Marintec China.

UBM’s joint venture in Shanghai, UBM Sinoexpo’s Hotelex Shanghai will be extended into two phases in 2017 at SNIEC.

Phase 1 will be held in March featuring catering, tableware, food & beverages, coffee & tea, and food related products, while Phase 2, will be held in April and will feature products of hotel supply, textile, IT & security, building & interior, furniture & accessory, vending machine, and cleaning.

Other major UBM Sinoexpo’s shows at SNIEC also recorded positive results. CPhI/P-MEC China and Fi Asia-China featured a record 3,500 exhibitors in June.

Furniture China will occupy all indoor and outdoor space at SNIEC in September, and add all indoor space at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre in Pudong, making it largest ever covering 380,000 m2 of gross exhibition space.
