Description
The 2nd edition of the Gas Indonesia Summit & Exhibition (GIS) returns to Jakarta in 2017 The Gas Indonesia Summit and Exhibition (GIS) was launched at the Shangri-La Jakarta from 15th to 17th March 2016 under the theme “Revolutionizing the Indonesian Gas Market”. It was officially supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia and co-organised by Sky Connection. The GIS platform came at a crucial period with the world’s focus on Indonesia’s next steps and updates on regulations, power tenders, changes in LNG trade as well as the country’s focus on infrastructure developments in the gas & LNG landscape. In response to Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s goal for the nation’s electrification ratio to reach 100 percent by 2019, several power plant projects have been scheduled to achieve a total of 35,000 megawatts (MW) of additional power. These projects are scheduled to be built in addition to small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects, both floating regasification units (FRU) and floating storage units (FSU), to provide gas to these facilities. Indonesia’s state run utility Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) was tasked with implementing these plans. GIS 2016 presented updates on 35,000MW program from a national’s and IPP’s perspective and challenges and opportunities associated with the program i.e. fuel availability, limited infrastructure (finance and investment) and tender and procurement processes. The opportunities for regional and international players associated with this tender is significant and the insights and updates on the next steps forward by the government and PLN is anticipated. Themed “Advancing Indonesia’s gas & LNG industry”, GIS 2017 will provide crucial market updates on PLN’s power tender, what are the map of opportunities for small to large scale infrastructure development from the upstream to the downstream gas and LNG sector in Indonesia, as well as updates on Indonesia’s revision to 2015 gas regulation. Originally planned to be held from 17th to 19th January 2017 at the Jakarta Convention Center, the second edition of GIS is now scheduled to take place from 12 to 14 July 2017 for strategic reasons and will provide the perfect platform for companies to showcase their expertise and brands to a regional and international audience in an ever changing dynamic Indonesian gas market. GIS 2017 will also attract in excess of 400 high level conference delegates to the 3 day multi-stream conference and over 3,000 global visitors to the exhibition.
