The Linguistic Society of America is the major professional society in the United States that is exclusively dedicated to the advancement of the scientific study of language. As such, the LSA plays a critical role in supporting and disseminating linguistic scholarship, as well as facilitating the application of current research to scientific, educational, and social issues concerning language. In early January, the LSA sponsors an Annual Meeting, at which nearly 300 papers and posters are typically presented. Special events include the Presidential address, invited lectures, topical workshops, and the LSA business meeting.
The American Dialect Society, the American Name Society, the North American Association for the History of the Language Sciences, the Society for Pidgin and Creole Languages, the Society for the Study of the Indigenous Languages of the Americas, and The Association for Linguistic Evidence will meet concurrently with the LSA.
The LSA offers multiple opportunities for publishers and other entities to have a presence at the Annual Meeting through Annual Meeting Handbook advertisements, registration packet inserts, exhibit booths, event sponsorships, and more.
