The 2015 edition of Imabari Maritime Fair (Bari-Ship) recorded growth in both exhibitor and visitor numbers. Organised by UBM Japan, a subsidiary of UBM plc, the show hosted 313 exhibiting companies from 17 countries and regions, an increase of 33% from the previous edition. Bari-Ship was held from 21st to 23rd May 2015 at Texport Imabari in Imabari City, Japan. UBM reported the addition of a new exhibition area this year to welcome the attendance of 9,042 trade visitors. This year’s ISH China & CIHE – China International Trade Fair for Sanitation, Heating, Ventilation & Air-Conditioning – concluded last month drawing a record-breaking 1,119 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions – an increase of 12% from 2014. The three-day show ran from 13th to 15th May at Beijing’s New China International Exhibition Center (NCIEC). International exhibition organiser, Koelnmesse, concluded its THAIFEX – World of Food Asia 2015 last month, with record number of visitors. Running from 20th to 24th May at IMPACT Exhibition Center, the five-day trade show attracted more than 35,000 trade visitors, of those, 7,274 were from overseas. Among the 1,675 exhibitors from 16 sectors, 811 were international exhibitors. The inaugural edition of Seatrade Cruise Asia has been postponed to a later date as a result of the MERS virus outbreak in Korea according to the organiser and UBM subsidiary, Seatrade Communications. The two-day trade show was scheduled to take place at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Centre from 11th to 12th June. Seatrade received an increasing number of withdrawal notifications from its key stakeholders including delegates, speakers and cruise lines. The Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) voted to appoint Fred Peterson as its interim executive director, replacing the current director, James E. Rooney, who will be leaving the authority at the end of the month to become the next president and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Global Gaming Expo 2015, for the casino gaming industry, is broadening its scope by launching the “Integrated Resort Experience at G2E,” presenting innovative non-gaming technology, products and services as guests would experience them in a gaming-resort setting. When the recent United Fresh 2015 annual convention and expo wrapped up at Chicago’s McCormick Place, United Fresh donated 39,019 lbs. of produce and 207 lbs. of assorted dry food to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Volunteers helped collect donations from the convention floor, which is filled with fresh produce companies, to benefit those in need serviced by Greater Chicago Food Depository partner agencies such as food pantries, soup kitchen, and other emergency feeding centers.
