Fort Worth CVB's David Dubois Named New IAEE President

July 30, 2012

David Dubois, current president and CEO of the Forth Worth (Texas) Convention & Visitors Bureau, has been named the new president of the International Association of Exhibitions & Events.

Doreen Biela, IAEE’s chair, announced the news, and Dubois’ appointment will be effective in October after current IAEE president Steven Hacker retires.

"IAEE is fortunate to have enjoyed a lengthy CEO transition period, which permitted us to engage in a very comprehensive national search for our next chief staff executive and ensure a seamless leadership transition,” Biela said.

She added, “Ultimately, David became the unanimous choice of our search committee and board of directors. We are confident that David will provide us with the same kind of creative, enthusiastic, and effective leadership that we have enjoyed for so long."

Dubois previously has held executive roles in the Sheraton and Ritz-Carlton hotel chains, as well as the Professional Convention Management Association and Meeting Professionals International.

In addition, Dubois has served in several volunteer positions, including his appointment last year as chairperson of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council’s Board of Directors.

Dubois, a Detroit native, has been in the top job at the Fort Worth CVB since January 2007.

Dubois will be replacing Hacker, who has been with IAEE since 1992.

"The selection of David as IAEE’s next president is a brilliant choice,” Hacker said.

He added, “I have known and admired David for almost two decades, and we have worked closely together on many successful projects. I am excited to know that the IAEE staff will be led by a polished professional who knows our industry and is committed to its future."

Dubois said he was honored to be selected as the new staff leader at IAEE.

“Our association is the principle global resource for those who plan, produce and service the exhibitions and events industry,” he added, “I enthusiastically look forward to working closely with the staff and volunteer leaders of IAEE as we continue to promote the unique value of exhibitions and other events that bring buyers and sellers together.”
