Global Sources' Inaugural China Sourcing Fairs Open in Miami
Global Sources opened its inaugural China Sourcing Fairs in Miami this week. The three-day trade show ran July 11-13 at the Miami Beach Convention Center and was jointly organised with China’s Trade Development Bureau, which is a part of the Ministry of Commerce. Product categories covered in the show includes Electronics, Baby & Children’s Products, Home Products, Gifts & Premiums, Fashion Accessories and Garments & Textiles.
The first edition of the Miami China Sourcing Fairs was also co-located with the India Sourcing Fair, which featured home products and gift items from India-based exhibitors.
Tommy Wong, president of Global Sources Exhibitions, was quoted in the press release, “We are excited to bring the China Sourcing Fairs to buyers in North and Latin America for the first time. We have organised these events for years in different parts of the world, including Hong Kong, India, South Africa and Dubai. But this is the first time that some of mainland China’s more experienced exporters are coming to meet with buyers in this region.”
Until recently, the opportunity to have a celebrity attend an event, attach themselves to a name-brand or endorse a certain product or idea was untouchable. The thought of paying a person to promote a product was seen as something only Fortune 500 companies could afford. Social media has changed all that with brands and businesses utilizing celebrity influencers to connect directly with their demographics and increase sales and profits.
