High-profile Events to Boost MICE in Thailand

May 9, 2011

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has announced plans to promote five events in key industries to boost the country’s MICE status in the region. The events will be promoted under a new marketing campaign “Better the Best.” TCEB officials said VIV Asia, BIG & BIH, Renewable Energy Asia, ProPak Asia and Metalex were ranked as top five shows in 2010 in terms of highest visitor count or other key metrics.

TCEB’s latest campaign will focus on Thailand’s core industries of gifts & decorative items, renewable energy, machine tools & metalworking, livestock & agriculture and packaging technology, which reportedly represent a total of approximately $157 billion in trade.

“The ministries of Agriculture, Commerce, Energy and Industry will help the rise to leadership of the industries among ASEAN countries through the holding of international trade fairs,” said TCEB president Akapol Sorasuchart.

As event professionals, our job is to host people and while we can’t prepare for everything, it’s essential to develop an emergency plan that can be adapted to any situation. In Boston, the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority’s (MCCA) Public Safety Team at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the Hynes Convention Center, have taken their experiences to develop a comprehensive crisis management training program, starting with crisis communications.
