Suntec Singapore Appoints Arun Madhok New CEO

Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Services has appointed Arun Madhok as its new CEO, a role he has assumed on an acting basis since former CEO, Pieter Idenburg, left the venue after seven years to explore other opportunities.

“Arun has been an integral part of Suntec Singapore’s management team for the past few years and his appointment assures continuity for the team running one of Singapore’s premiere address for MICE events both locally and globally,” said John Lim, Group CEO of ARA Asset Management, which owns the venue.

He added, “Arun is capable and well-qualified to lead the Suntec Singapore team, which will benefit immensely from his business acumen.”

Madhok joined Suntec Singapore Feb. 1, 2009, as the director of business development and was promoted to the position of COO at the beginning of this year.

He has been instrumental in developing the strategy and overseeing the modernization program that is currently underway.

Madhok also has spearheaded the review of the venue’s operational activities and implemented wide-ranging changes, enabling Suntec Singapore to maintain its reputation as a world-class venue.

Prior to his appointment at Suntec Singapore, Madhok has extensive experience in the airline and computer industries.

His expertise includes strategic planning, business development, introduction of new technologies and customer service.

Madhok was responsible for operating and developing business across Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa during his tenure at British Airways.

Suntec Singapore spans six levels and caters to events from 10 to 20,000 people.

RFID locks were installed on all meeting room doors, and over 200 motion detection cameras have been placed throughout the space. Featuring white-washed walls and ceilings adorned with bold floral patterns in cerulean and coral tones, the space is complemented by warm walnut accent walls. In addition to the redesign of all pre-function spaces, meeting rooms and ballrooms, Mandalay Bay's 1 million square feet of exhibit space has undergone a rejuvenation, including new paint, covered pillars and relocated strobe lights.
