The Shenyang New World EXPO opened to glowing accolades March 1. Located in Liaoning province’s capital city, EXPO is positioned to become an exhibition and meeting industry magnet for China’s northeastern geographical region consisting of the provinces of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang, according to venue officials. UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, recently announced that Malaysia will host the 13th edition of the UFI Asia Pacific Conference. The event is scheduled to be held from 1st to 2nd March 2018 in Kuala Lumpur. The event was last held in Malaysia in 2009. The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) expects the event to generate new business event opportunities in the country and it is expected that the event will generate RM 1.8 million (US$405,000) in economic impact in Malaysia. Tarsus Asia, a division of the Tarsus Group, plans to develop its recent acquisition, Hometex Home Textiles Fair in Shenzhen, into a more internationalised trade show. Tarsus Asia aims to increase overseas participation in Hometex, by leveraging the company’s existing portfolio in Turkey and Indonesia to bring new buyers and suppliers to Shenzhen. NASDAQ-listed Global Sources released its financial results for the year ended 31st December 2016.  Revenues from continuing operations in the year were US$157.7 million, down 7.8 percent compared to US$171.0 million recorded in 2015.  IFRS net profit dropped 23 percent year-on-year to US$18.4 million from US$24.0 million in the previous year. However, adjusted EBITDA increased from US$30.8 million up to US$32.0 million in 2016. Natural Products Expo West was held once again, drawing more than 80,000 attendees to nearly 500,000 square feet of exhibit floor space, March 8-12 at the Anaheim Convention Center.  While there was great activity on the main floor, approximately 20 percent of the show’s exhibitors, found in the Marriott and Hilton, opened a day ahead. Many attendees took the advantage of this staggered floor opening by coming early to the show and packing into these areas to see new exhibitors and new products.
