The 24th HKTDC Hong Kong Book Fair drew more than 980,000 visitors, setting an all-time attendance record for the week-long event, according to the organizer, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). “The Hong Kong Book Fair is a significant cultural event in the Asia-Pacific region,” said HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Benjamin Chau. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd recently introduced the enhanced version of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre mobile app. In addition, the company launched the “Unforgettable?Collective Memories at HKCEC”campaign using an app on the HKCEC official Facebook fan page to celebrate the venue’s 25th anniversary.  The upgraded app, which has a wayfinding function and a listing of the day’s events newly added, is available on iPhone App Store and Google Play for free.  This latest version of the HKCEC mobile app… more

In an effort to expand even further, the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is opening offices in China. Travel Link Marketing has been appointed as MyCEB’s representative in China with offices in three of the largest cities in China namely, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The Singapore Gifts & Premiums Fair (SGPFair) drew a record-breaking 10,000-plus visitors when it recently was held at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The three-day show, held July 10-12, showcases promotional, corporate, incentive and retail gifts. There also were 158 exhibitors on the showfloor. U.K.-based ITE Group has its sights set on Southeast Asia, with the launch of another show there – Cosmobeauté into Myanmar. The show will be launched through its The Malaysian subsidiary, ECMI ITE Asia.  This is the company’s second recent launch into the region announced this month, with Paperex Indonesia 2014 debuting Dec. 3-4 at the Jakarta Convention Center. The exhibition industry in the Asia/Pacific region just keeps growing, with research conducted for the 9th edition of UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry’s Trade Fair Industry in Asia report indicating more than 16 million net square meters were sold in the region in 2012. ECMI ITE Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of U.K.-based ITE Group, is joining forces with PT Prakarsa Sinergi Utama, an Indonesia-based organizer, to launch Paperex Indonesia 2014.
