The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is pleased to have received two major awards from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). Recently, the Energy Storage China (ESC) 2018 concluded at the Tangshan Southlake Convention and Exhibition Center. The event featured more than 200 industry experts. Organised by the Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Company, the two-day event was held from 19th to 20th September. This week, the IE expo Guangzhou 2018 posted a 20% increase in terms of exhibiting companies. A total of 505 companies from 15 countries participated in the show. It attracted over 26,000 trade visitors which is a 7% increase compared to last year. Running from 18th to 20th September 2018 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, the event occupied an exhibition space of 31,000 m2. Earlier this month, the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) launched a new branding campaign, “Thailand: Redefine Your Business Events,” aiming to meet the demands of business travellers with a focus on corporate events. As part of the campaign, there is an initiative to implement strategic plans that will enhance the recognition of Thailand’s MICE industry as well as grow its revenues. Last week, Mega Expo (formerly known as Kenfair), a Hong Kong-based exhibition and event organiser, announced its financial results for the year ended 30th June 2018. The company reported total revenues of US$32 million, representing a huge increase of 147% compared with the previous year. The company posted a net profit of US$12 million, compared with a loss of US$5.03 million in 2017. Some of the construction in downtown San Francisco will be ending soon, with a positive impact for event planners and attendees. The $551 million Moscone Center expansion project is due to be completed at the end of 2018. Started in November 2014, the expansion adds more than 157,000 gross square feet of flexible meeting space to Moscone North and South, increasing the center’s total exhibit space to more than 504,000 sq. ft.
