C2 International Cloud Lab to Debut at IMEX America

September 26, 2018

In two weeks, IMEX America attendees will push themselves beyond their limits thanks to a new feature, the C2 International Cloud Lab. C2 International, an annual business conference that takes place in Montreal and Australia, is well known for its innovative approach to business events that tie in both physical and mental challenges to stimulate creative thinking.

C2 International partnered with the IMEX Group in a joint effort to drive innovation and creativity throughout the meetings and events sector. The three-year agreement, which begins this year, is the first time that C2 has partnered with another event.

Designed to educate and inspire the meetings and events professionals, the partnership aligns the visions of both organizations through dedicated events at IMEX shows as well as ongoing opportunities and content throughout the year, according to IMEX officials.

“We’re really excited about the steps C2 International is taking to share fresh perspectives on running events,” said Carina Bauer, CEO of the IMEX Group. “Both of our organizations share a firm belief in the power of face-to-face events and recognize the need for cutting-edge innovation in order for events to become even more powerful and relevant in the future.”

Earlier this year, C2 International brought two of its highly experiential and original Learning Labs to IMEX in Frankfurt 2018: the Sky Lab – meeting spaces in mid-air, and the In the Dark Lab – meetings in a totally darkened room. It ran sessions in these labs as part of the overall education program.

At IMEX America, C2 will run invitation-only focus groups in their new Cloud Lab, as well as running a daily education session in the space. The sessions that will take place in the Cloud Lab include:

  • “Placing the Participant at the Center of Events,” on Smart Monday, October 15
  • “Collaboration is the New Innovation,” on Tuesday, October 16
  • “Crafting a Five Star Experience,” on Wednesday, October 17
  • “Cross-pollinating Your Way to Event Success,” on Thursday, October 18

In addition, Anick Beaulieu, vice president of growth and partnerships at C2 International will lead a collaborative session in the Sands Showroom on Thursday morning titled “Emotions and Technology: An Exploration of Audience Connection,” which will offer participants a glimpse into how C2 harnesses technology in new ways to open up opportunities to engage and delight participants on a whole new level.

“At IMEX, our mission is to unite and advance the meetings industry, helping every single audience within it to increase their skills and knowledge and to push for innovation that generates fresh value,” said Bauer.

She continued, “Our partnership with C2 International certainly helps us take steps to fulfill this. With everything we do, our goal is to offer new and creative experiences and education for all our show participants in Frankfurt and America.”

IMEX America will take place Oct. 16-18 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, preceded by Smart Monday on Oct. 15, which is powered by MPI.

As event professionals and destinations adjust, adapt and evolve in these uncharted waters, it is imperative that substantial resources be put in place for all of the people responsible for planning and executing trade shows, expositions and conventions. An example is Mohegan Sun, which built an industry-leading, COVID-19 Resource Center with a combination of pictures from recently held successful events (the property reopened on May 1, 2020) along with several widely available and informative documents, such as an evolving operational framework:
