November 21, 2011

The recent Cosmoprof Asia grew in several different areas, including attendance, showfloor size and number of exhibitors, when it ran Nov. 9-11 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The show, jointly organized by UBM Asia and BolognaFiere Group, drew more than 48,500 attendees, a 10-percent increase, compared with last year; 1,780 exhibitors, up 9 percent on 2010, from 42 countries and regions, of which 477 were first-time exhibitors; and had the largest-ever showfloor, with 68,000 square meters of exhibition space, up 18 percent, compared with the 2010 edition.

International attendance also saw a significant uptick with 30,000 visits, up 14 percent on 2010, with the increase coming mostly from Australia, Brazil, Mainland China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Middle East, Russia, Turkey and the United States.

"It’s very encouraging to see the general growth of visitor attendance particularly from the international side in a time of uncertain economy,” said Michael Duck, executive vice president of UBM Asia, manager of the show.

He added, “It gives strong evidence that Cosmoprof Asia is the definitive event for industry professionals.”

According to show organizers, the attendees provided positive feedback on the show, while 65 percent of the exhibitors from Asia made space reservations for the 2012 edition.

"We have been exhibiting in Cosmoprof Asia for 11 years. This is one of the largest beauty shows in the world offering a forum to meet international distributors, as well as individuals and companies from all realms of the beauty industry,” said Toni Ko, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of NYX Cosmetics.

Ko added, “Since Hong Kong is the fashion and beauty hub of Asia, attending Cosmoprof Asia also allows us to stay current with Asia's trends by communicating directly with the local market. We will definitely be attending the show in 2012.”

Shital Nangalia of Headrush Marketing said, "Being my first experience visiting Cosmoprof Asia, it has been extremely fulfilling for me. It gives us an opportunity to reach world-class international brands which will appeal to the Indian consumer. The show was very well managed. I will certainly come back next year.”

The next Cosmoprof Asia will be held Nov. 14-16 at HKCEC.
