NrnbergMesse North America Will Launch Residential Construction and Remodeling Expo in 2014

August 11, 2013

The German messes are launching more and more shows in North America, with the latest being the Residential Construction and Remodeling Expo, owned by NürnbergMesse North America.

The show will be held Oct. 7-9 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta and geared toward suppliers wanting to reach home builders, architects, designers and remodelers on the East Coast of the U.S., according to show organizers.

“We are bringing together the very best talent in all areas of show management, residential building, remodeling and education serving this industry,” said Dirk Ebener, CEO of NürnbergMesse North America.

He added, “This team has significant experience in every aspect of the residential construction and remodeling market. Our supplier and buyer advisory boards will be announced in the next few weeks as will be our major sponsors and media partners.”

NürnbergMesse already produces international trade shows serving the kitchen and bath, windows and doors, as well as stone industries.

They also produce the American Coatings Show, on tap April 8-10 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Ebener said of launching the new show in Atlanta, “We believe Atlanta is the perfect location for international visitors and suppliers which will ultimately develop RCRE into a fully international exhibition.”

Atlanta also is a hub for the home building community, with several major companies based there.

Frank Poe, executive director of the Georgia World Congress Center, said: “Atlanta is the business capital of the Southeast and is home to many Fortune 500 Companies who serve this industry, such as Home Depot, Georgia Pacific, UPS, Shaw Carpets and many more. RCRE has the full support and endorsement of the GWCC, and the entire business community is looking forward to hosting this event.”

Residential construction and remodeling has picked up in the U.S. after the housing crisis and ensuing recession, according to the National Association of Home Builders and U.S. Census Bureau.

Confidence in the remodeling market rebounded in the second quarter of 2013 with the Remodeling Market Index (RMI) rising six points to 55. A score above 50 is considered good.

The rise in existing home sales and increased demand for remodeling projects contributed to the positive report.

“Remodelers are feeling optimistic about the home improvement market during what has turned out to be an uneven recovery,” said NAHB Remodelers Chairman Bill Shaw, GMR, GMB, CGP, a remodeler from Houston. “The RMI future market results are especially promising. Not only do remodelers have projects booked for the next few months, but they also have more work coming in the door.”

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, new housing starts also have increased, with the numbers in June showing a 16.1-percent increase to 911,000 new homes starting construction, compared with June 2012, which had 785,000 new housing permits issued.

Even with the positive housing news, Residential Construction and Remodeling Expo will be entering a crowded trade show market in the U.S. serving similar sectors, with the Hanley Wood Exhibitions portfolio of shows and NAHB’s massive annual event, to name a few.
