Nurses Credentialing Center Signs on Digitell to Expand 3-D, Virtual Poster Session Hall

November 20, 2011

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) signed on with Digitell for a second year to expand their 3-D, Virtual Poster Session Hall.

The ANCC Environment contains more than 60 poster sessions, complete with an audio clip from the presenter, as well as a PDF download of the poster.

"This was so well received last year by our nurses that we are excited to have expanded it in 2011," said Regina Coll, assistant director of Technology & Conferences for ANCC.

She added, "Not only have we expanded the Posters, but we have added new features that we are excited about as well."

Nurses are able to enter the environment as an avatar, which they can customize to look like themselves and then they are able to proceed to navigate around to the posters, spending as much time as they would like reviewing them.

There is a directory of posters, and during "live" events, such as the recent ANCC National Magnet Conference in Baltimore, avatars are able to interact and communicate with each other and with the poster presenters for a feeling of actually attending a live event, according to Digitell representatives.

New features this year included a Magnet Virtual Film Festival, a Magnet Art Gallery, an ANCC Resources Section and a virtual room honoring the past nursing history.  Nurses will continue to have access to both the 2010 and the 2011 posters.

"(Digitell’s) Virtual Development Team has been awesome to work with, and we couldn't have done this without the patience and creativity of the Digitell staff," Coll said.

She added "I am looking forward to continuing to develop new 3-D applications for our nurses.”

The ANCC Virtual Poster Session was available before the ANCC National Magnet Conference, during the conference and after the conference, allowing nurses an opportunity to browse all the posters at their own leisure.

More than 1,400 nurses signed up for the Virtual Poster Hall before the event, and registration this year was up 180 percent, compared with 2010.

"We are very excited to be working with ANCC," said James Newman, Digitell's director of Virtual Technology.  "Regina and her team have embraced this technology from the start and have really accomplished some great things.”
