Singapore: A Growing Medical Marketplace Lands a New Show

To meet the needs of Asia’s rapidly growing medical technology manufacturing industry, Messe Dusseldorf Asia and the Singapore Precision Engineering & Tooling Association have joined forces to launch MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, scheduled Sept. 12-14 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. The inaugural biennial event is expected to attract approximately 150 exhibitors from more than 20 countries, as well as 5,000 attendees from across Asia and abroad, according to show officials.
Held concurrently with MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2012 and OS+H Asia 2012, MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA will showcase components, materials and solutions of the medical engineering industry process chain. Exhibit product categories will include components for medical technology; materials and substance; micro and nano-technology; production and manufacturing and testing.
According to Gernot Ringling, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia, the show’s launch comes at a time when Singapore continues its ascent as one of Asia’s fastest-growing medical device markets.
“These positive market developments, coupled with Singapore’s strategic location, close proximity to key growth markets, access to a skilled workforce and strong government partnerships, have translated into an increasing demand for a specialized trade exhibition to serve the needs of Singapore’s industry and beyond,” Ringling said.
He added, “through MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA, we hope to facilitate industry growth and procurement needs, create business opportunities and promote knowledge exchange for all involved in the medical technology manufacturing industry in Singapore and the region.”
The event also will include MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA Conference 2012, a two-day educational conference organized by SPETA that is expected to bring together key medical technology manufacturers, suppliers, regulators and researchers and provide participants with insights into medical device manufacturing trends and developments.
In addition, the event also will include a medical technology electronics and precision engineering business matching event, GATE 12 – Medical Technology. Jointly organized by IE Singapore and SPETA, this buyer-centric platform is intended to match up medical technology buyers with pre-qualified suppliers.
As Singapore continues to established itself as a leading location for medical technology companies to design, test, manufacture and launch innovative products, it only makes sense to launch a trade show and conference dedicated to this surging marketplace, according to SC Koh, SPETA executive director.
“MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA 2012 is timely as the Asia Pacific medical device market is experiencing unprecedented growth and is estimated to account for 25 percent of global market share and reach $62.3 billion in revenue by 2012,” Koh said.
He added, “MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA aims to raise industry standards by connecting market players such as manufacturers, suppliers, systems partners, researchers, engineers and technical buyers. This is in accordance with the association’s vision to develop Singapore into a global precision engineering center.”
Messe Düsseldorf Asia is a subsidiary of Messe Düsseldorf in Germany, which produces COMPAMED, a leading international trade fair for the medical manufacturing industry held annually in Düsseldorf.

The convention center now boasts 11 dynamic digital walls, spanning up to 24' x 13', strategically positioned for brand placements, sponsorships and targeted event messaging. Additionally, attendees can benefit from 20 double-sided 55" mobile flexible display units, facilitating effortless navigation to meeting rooms and events. RFID locks were installed on all meeting room doors, and over 200 motion detection cameras have been placed throughout the space.
Refreshing New Design & Fine Art
The newly remodeled convention space provides a bright and vibrant atmosphere that complements Mandalay Bay's tropical-inspired brand. Featuring white-washed walls and ceilings adorned with bold floral patterns in cerulean and coral tones, the space is complemented by warm walnut accent walls. In addition to the redesign of all pre-function spaces, meeting rooms and ballrooms, Mandalay Bay's 1 million square feet of exhibit space has undergone a rejuvenation, including new paint, covered pillars and relocated strobe lights.
