UBM Asia's INTERMACH in Thailand Sees 20-percent Attendance Jump

June 20, 2011

UBM Asia’s INTERMACH, SUBCON Thailand and Sheet Metal Asia 2011 drew 33,016 attendees to this year’s show, a 20-percent increase, compared with the previous show.

In addition, international attendance also saw a huge jump this year, with a 25-percent increase, compared with the previous show.

All three collocated events, held May 19-21 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre, are now considered a “driving force behind dozens of new business partnerships, which are making a significant contribution to the booming Thai economy,” according to UBM Asia officials.

“INTERMACH and Sheet Metal Asia are the first machinery exhibitions of the year and are perfectly timed with the manufacturing industry’s buying cycle,” said Sanchai Noombunnam, show director. “Many exhibitors took the opportunity to present their latest technology and launch products for the first time in Asia.”

He added, “This year, there were also many important seminars throughout the four-day event. These events attracted over 2,500 people and many of them were decision-makers, VIPs and important people in the manufacturing industry. Seminars related to the automotive industry proved to be very popular.”

INTERMACH has evolved into an event that buyers and manufacturers now treat it as a central meeting point, according to UBM Asia officials.

In addition, SUBCON Thailand attracts expert contractors who are seeking quality manufacturing sources, and Tier-1 parts manufacturers attend looking for reliable contractors, Sheet Metal Asia is the largest showcase of Sheet Metal fabrication machinery in the region, the officials added.

Chanin Khaochan, director of the BOI Unit for Industrial Linkage Development, Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) and co-organizer of SUBCON Thailand 2011, said that “trade visitors and buyers of SUBCON Thailand 2011 increased 30 percent over the previous year. There were many overseas buyers from foreign countries, especially Japan.”

He added, “Contributing to the show’s success were overseas offices that helped invite buyers to the exhibition.”

The number of business transactions from the events is believed to be valued at around 7.4 billion baht, with more expected in follow-up deals, according to UBM officials.

INTERMACH and Sheet Metal Asia will be returning May 17-20 to BITEC next year.
