Hong Kong Jewellery Show Grows “Hall of Extraordinary” Exhibitors 25 Percent

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s HongKong International Jewellery Show 2012has booked new dates, Feb. 16-20 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and is expected to not only draw 3,000 exhibitors from 46 regions and countries, but also expand the “Hall of Extraordinary” by 25 percent.

The “Hall of Extraordinary” features high-endjewellery pieces with high quality stones set in unique designs.The diamonds and precious stones section also hasincreased by 15 percent.

In the hall will be gems, as well as classic pieces, such as the “The Eternal Collection”, classified as a permanent exhibitby the National Museum of mainland China, which is owned by exhibitor Fook Wing Tong Jade & Treasure Limited.

Last year’s show was held in March and drew 37,000 new buyers, a new record, according to HKTDC officials.

Besides the larger showfloor, the biannual Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2012will host several seminars and sessionson topics such as the "Outlook for Gold in Emerging Markets”.

In addition, there will be several competitions on tap to highlight the creativity of jewellery designers.

The 13th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition has “Soaring Dragon” as its theme. In Open and Student Groups, designs are judged on creativity and innovation, aesthetics and craftsmanship, marketability, wearability and topic relevance.

The biennial Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition celebrates the versatility of gold, inviting entries from the Open and Student Group, as well as the Fashionable Group.

The design concept 'Memento of Love' is interpreted by the contestants through three themes - Love, Familial Connections and Friendships.

Finalists' designs in both competitions will be on display in Hall 1 Concourse throughout the fair.
