Las Vegas Monorail Offers Unlimited Rides to CONEXPO Participants

March 5, 2020

Getting from one’s hotel to the Las Vegas Convention Center and back again has become a lot easier and cheaper for some trade show exhibitors and attendees. For the second time, the Las Vegas Monorail is offering unlimited rides for CONEXPO-CON/AGG & IFPE show participants via 3-day attendee and 7-day exhibitor passes embedded into every trade show badge. The triennial event is set to take place March 10 – 14.

This value-add not only makes riding the rail system more convenient for busy conventioneers, who simply scan their badges and go without having to line up at ticket kiosks or fumble with farecards, it also enables them to avoid congested roadways around the Las Vegas Strip.

According to Las Vegas Monorail officials, when CONEXPO/CON-AGG was last held in Las Vegas (in 2017), monorail ridership increased by 30 percent over the previous event, thanks to badge fare integration. This year’s show, which is expected to attract nearly 130,000 attendees, will have events taking place at two stops along the monorail route: the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, which is accessed from the SAHARA Las Vegas station, and the LVCC.

“Three years ago, our partners at CONEXPO-CON/AGG understood immediately how an integrated monorail ticket improved convenience and access [—] more of their attendees than ever utilized our system,” explained Ingrid Reisman, vice president and CMO of the Las Vegas Monorail. “This year, with two trade show locations connected by monorail stations, we look forward to being able to provide even more convenience and connectivity.”

Since the Las Vegas Monorail launched its badge fare integration system in spring 2017, more convention groups are opting to offer it to their attendees and exhibitors, Reisman added. Other large trade shows held at the LVCC that have integrated monorail fare into show badges include the National Association of Home Builders’ International Builders’ Show and the National Association of Broadcasters’ NAB Show.

According to Reisman, the Las Vegas Monorail works with planners to arrange ticket links directly on an event’s registration site, with multi-day, unlimited-ride passes available in 3-, 4-, 5- and 7-day increments.

In addition, any passenger with a smartphone can access mobile ticketing, which is now available for Android users via Google Pay using the embedded NFC technology in Android phones. Apple iPhone users can also drop their electronic tickets into their Apple wallet using the monorail’s scan-and-go technology.

Currently, the privately funded, 3.9-mile long monorail system includes seven stations: MGM Grand; Bally’s/Paris Las Vegas; Flamingo/Caesars Palace; Harrah’s/The LINQ; Las Vegas Convention Center; Westgate Resort & Casino and SAHARA Las Vegas.

When the new 500,000-square-foot CAESARS FORUM conference and events center, located at the Harrah’s/The LINQ station, opens on March 18, the monorail will count three major convention facilities and one major outdoor festival destination along its route: CAESARS FORUM, the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas Festival Grounds and MGM Grand Conference Center.

In addition, the Las Vegas Monorail’s zero-emission trains also link riders to a plethora of restaurants, shows, shops, day/nightclubs, spas, hotels and casinos.

“This fare integration option is taking off among convention and trade show planners,” Reisman said. “It’s a win for planners, who are pleased to be able to offer their attendees [and exhibitors] a helpful amenity.”
