Messe Duesseldorf Unveils MEDICA Health App Contest; Two Asia-based Medical Shows Posting Strong Numbers

July 18, 2012

Messe Duesseldorf’s robust medical-themed portfolio is having a busy summer, with several recent news announcements.

MEDICA 2012, International Trade Fair with Congress – World Forum for Medicine, will feature the new program element “AppCircus”.

At the AppCircus, innovative health apps will be presented by their creators with the goal of bringing developers, start-up companies and the organizations involved in the software development together with potential users and project partners from the medical sector and the purchasing side.

The apps to be presented at MEDICA 2012, on tap Nov. 12-14 in Duesseldorf, will be selected through an online competition.

This online competition for the best app in the mHealth arena is now liveon . This is the first cooperation between the world's leading international medical trade fair MEDICA and the virtual mobile developer community appcircus.

Developers from all over the world can pitch their health related app idea and try to get as many votes as possible for their app.

Each month, the best two apps in terms of most votes will be selected and the teams will be invited to be on stage during the “live AppCircus on health” at Medica 2012.

During the course of the next four months, eight start-ups from around the globe will be selected to be on show at MEDICA 2012.

In other Messe Duesseldorf medical show news, two Asia-based events serving the industry are tracking well for their upcoming shows.

The 9th edition of MEDICAL FAIR ASIA, International Exhibition on Hospital, Diagnostic, Pharmaceutical, Medical & Rehabilitation Equipment & Supplies, will have strong support from prominent Asian industry associations.

The associations include the Ministry of Health (Singapore), the Asian Hospital Federation, the Association of Diagnostics Manufacturers of India, the Association of Medical Device Industry (Singapore) and the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia, as well as the Indonesian Hospital Association (PERSI), the Singapore Medical Association and the Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong.

MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2012 will take place from September 12–14 at Suntec Singapore with an expected 500 exhibitors and 10,000 trade visitors from around the world.

Held in conjunction with Messe Duesseldorf’s MEDICAL FAIR ASIA, MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA 2012 is experiencing strong exhibitor registration as a result of increased demand in the region.

“It will be the most important and relevant trade exhibition for industry professionals in the medical technology manufacturing sector to source for products, meet new business contacts, build partnerships and keep abreast of industry trends and developments,” said Michelle Leong, project manager for MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA 2012.

Jointly organized by Messe Duesseldorf Asia and the Singapore Precision Engineering & Tooling Association (SPETA), MEDICAL MANUFACTURING ASIA 2012 will feature approximately 150 leading international and local companies in the five main exhibit categories: components for medical technology, materials/substance, micro- /nanotechnology, production/manufacturing and testing.
