PMMI Signs with New Partner, International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering, for PACK EXPO International

July 18, 2012

Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute, owner and producer of the PACK EXPO trade shows, has partnered with the Midwest and Great Lakes chapters of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) to supply pharmaceutical insight at PACK EXPO International 2012 on tap Oct. 28-31 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

“ISPE members are pharmaceutical industry leaders, and we’re very pleased that these chapters will have a presence at PACK EXPO International 2012,” said Charles D. Yuska, president & CEO, PMMI.

He added, “By contributing to conference sessions and as ‘resident experts’ at The Rx Lounge, the Midwest and Great Lakes chapters will provide insight our attendees can’t get anywhere else.”

As part of the partnership, the two ISPE chapters will be part of The Rx Lounge, located on the showfloor with The Pharmaceutical Pavilion, where they’ll be on hand to answer attendee and exhibitor questions about pharmaceutical manufacturing.

They’ll also participate in the conference at PACK EXPO sharing their expertise with show attendees. In addition, these ISPE chapters will host a reception for the pharmaceutical community at The Rx Lounge.

Brian Beck, president of ISPE Midwest Chapter and Manager/TL – Project Engineering, Pfizer Inc., said there are increasing levels of importance for packaging within the pharmaceutical industry, especially with the advent of new rules about serialization.

“Packaging is a major concern for the pharmaceutical industry, because it touches on so many issues from track-and-trace issues to serving as a marketing tool and protecting our products,” he added.

Beck said,  “Being at PACK EXPO International 2012 allows our members to meet the leading players in our field and go back to the office with new, innovative ideas.”

The Great Lakes Chapter of ISPE draws its members primarily from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, and the Midwest Chapter pulls from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska.

They join a roster of partners for PACK EXPO International 2012, including the National Confectioners Association’s sponsorship of The Candy Bar lounge and The Confectionery Pavilion, and the International Society of Beverage Technologists’ recently announced sponsorship of the new Beverage Cooler lounge.
