Record 1,009 Exhibitors at Taiwan's Machine Tool Show

March 11, 2013

The biennial Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) opened to a record 1,009 exhibitors from 17 countries this year. Co-organised by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, the show is reportedly the largest of its kind in Taiwan and the second-largest in Asia.

The six-day trade show takes place from 5th to 10th March 2013 at two separate venues: Taipei World Trade Exhibition Halls and the Nangang Exhibition Hall. According to TAITRA, more than 20% of exhibitors were from overseas. In attendance were also approximately 5,500 foreign and 40,000 local trade visitors.

The Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry claims Taiwan is currently the world’s third-largest machine tool exporter, behind Germany and Japan. Additionally, Taiwan’s 2012 machinery exports and machine tool exports were US$20.09 billion and US$4.23 billion respectively.
