Reed Huaqan, ShanghaiMart Combine to Form Mega Gift Event

June 10, 2013

Reed Huaqun Exhibitions Co., Ltd. and ShanghaiMart have reached an agreement to develop the Shanghai International Gift & Home Trade Fair, formerly produced by ShanghaiMart, into the Shanghai International Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition, organized by Reed Huaqun.

The newly combined mega-expo will take place at ShanghaiMart Aug. 28-30.

The Shanghai International Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition is the first in several new Reed initiatives scheduled for this year, according to company officials.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Nat Wong, President of Reed Exhibitions Greater China, said, “This event marks the successful combination of the best elements of two big players: Reed Huaqun and ShanghaiMart. We’ve disassembled the competition model to create better business growth and a far bigger and more synergistic event.

He added, “Additionally, we are proud to confirm that the China Gift Chamber of Commerce(CGCC), which sponsored the past ShanghaiMart organized Gift & Home Trade Fair, will stay on to support the new exhibition through invitations to its extensive exhibitor database, powering key promotional activities and helping with general event coordination.”

The Chinese gift market continues to boom, with the Spring Festival accounting for bulk of the market and the country’s other major holiday seasons significantly driving demand.

In this climate, the new Shanghai International Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition will be a complement to Huaqun’s Gift & Home events.

This combination gives Reed coverage in the gift sector adding to shows already held in North China (Beijing), South China (Shenzhen) and West China (Chengdu).

The new event will provide a broader market reach into the East China market and deeper penetration towards meeting the supply and demand needs for the high value gift market.

“The merger of gift shows from Reed Huaqun and ShanghaiMart will deliver fantastic win-win results through the synergy of combining both parties’ strongest advantages,” Wong said.

He added, “It will reconfigure the competition landscape in Shanghai and create new opportunities for our participants. We are delighted to be so well placed to deliver a compelling market-leading exhibition this August. Shanghai international Houseware, Premium, Arts & Crafts Creative Design Exhibition will definitely be a winner for the gift industry, Reed Huaqun and ShanghaiMart.”
