Sri Lanka Expo to Return in 2012

The Sri Lanka Expo 2012, organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), is being revived after a 15 year hiatus. Scheduled to run from March 28-30 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, the three-day trade show will feature a range of “traditional and non-traditional products” under three categories of Agriculture, Fisheries and Industrial Products and Services. The expo will reportedly feature over 300 booths and is expected to attract over 1,000 visitors from overseas.

Sri Lanka’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rishad Bathiudeen, was quoted at a press briefing, “The total value of local exports have risen from US$7.1 billion in 2009 to US$8.3 billion in 2010, and that the exhibition will also help achieve the national export earnings target of US$15 billion by the year 2015.”
