Underline Offers Live Streaming, Digital Library for Academia and Science Events

June 30, 2020

Event managers handling events for academia, science, medicine and other professional fields now have a new online platform option for planning virtual conferences and events.

Underline, a live-streaming conference platform and digital repository, has been custom-built to handle scientific, technical and academic events, helping planners and organizers to execute virtual events as well as aggregate content from those events in a digital library.

Alex Lazinica, founder and CEO of Underline and a former robotics and artificial intelligence scientist, was inspired to start the company after feeling frustrated he couldn’t re-watch content he’d consumed at conference in the past, and also not being able to attend every session he wanted when they were scheduled at the same time. He saw a piece of the academic eco-system was missing, and the idea for Underline was born.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no better time to launch, especially with most conferences in this space cancelling in-person events for 2020 and even into 2021. The move to digital made it more timely than ever to launch Underline, according to Lazinica.

“Planning and executing a digital conference can be a daunting task – both for organizations and for their events management partners,” Lazinica said. “Underline’s team has been able to step in and relieve this burden, managing and producing the virtual conference process.”

Through a wide range of virtual, live streaming, interactivity and networking options for events, Underline is helping organizations deliver important content from conferences to their attendees and members, he added.

Among the offerings is an innovative, theater-quality online video platform custom-built for scientific events that expertly delivers HD presentations created by the Underline’s Emmy Award-winning production team.

The digital library also makes Underline particularly unique, making it possible to digitize scientific, academic and scholarly knowledge through video and preserving conference content. It has the capability to augment lectures with transcriptions; do real-time language translation; and enable researchers to cite lectures, share content, search technical papers, connect directly with speakers and start new collaborations.
