Malaysia Welcomed 5,000 Insurance Professionals to Awards Program

More than 5,000 insurance professionals were celebrated Aug 15-18 at the International Dragon Award (IDA) 2013 in Kuala Lumpur.

The ceremony and annual meeting was organized by IMM International and supported by Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).

Attendees came from 16 countries, including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Australia. The event also welcomed several esteemed speakers, such as the Chairman of the Phoenix Media Group, Liu Changle, and Robert A. Cook, president and CEO of Manulife - Asia.

“IDA 2013 is an excellent opportunity for the local insurance industry players to be involved with its international counterparts and together enhance the sector and take it to greater heights,” said Zulkefli Hj Sharif, CEO of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau.

He added, “Malaysia being chosen to once again host major international conferences is a strong indication of the country’s competency and capabilities to becoming a preferred a business events destination in this region. We are expecting an estimated RM 55.8 millionof economic impact from this event.”

IDA, established in 1998, honors the insurance and financial service professionals. Apart from the seven categoriesof award endorsement, IDA also assist members with educational and networking opportunities. IDA has recruited 26,000 members from more than 100 insurance institutions from 17-plus countries.

IDA’s chairman, Richard Wu, said before the event, “We are excited to organize IDA’s 14th award ceremony in Malaysia. Aside from the beautiful and exotic destination, IDA is impressed with the leading role Malaysia plays in the development of the life insurance and financial service industry and the support from the Malaysian government through Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).”

RFID locks were installed on all meeting room doors, and over 200 motion detection cameras have been placed throughout the space. Refreshing New Design & Fine Art The newly remodeled convention space provides a bright and vibrant atmosphere that complements Mandalay Bay's tropical-inspired brand. Featuring white-washed walls and ceilings adorned with bold floral patterns in cerulean and coral tones, the space is complemented by warm walnut accent walls. In addition to the redesign of all pre-function spaces, meeting rooms and ballrooms, Mandalay Bay's 1 million square feet of exhibit space has undergone a rejuvenation, including new paint, covered pillars and relocated strobe lights.
