NASDAQ-listed B2B media company, Global Sources, announced the completed transition of its key management effective Jan. 1. Peter Zapf, former chief operating officer of Global Sources, replaced Bill Georgiou as chief information officer. Georgiou is scheduled to retire as an employee at the end of February 2012, and move to a consultant role for the company for a further period of time. Brent Barnes, former general manager of Content & Community Development, replaced Zapf as the company’s COO.

The third edition of BOI Fair opened at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre under the theme is running under the banner “Going Green for the Future.” The fair is organised by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) and supported by UBM Asia (Thailand), who was hired as a special consultant, to rebuild investor confidence after last year’s devastating flood. NCC Management & Development Co Ltd, operator of Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC), announced the appointment of Sakchai Pattarapreechakul as president of the company. The Melbourne Convention + Visitors Bureau (MCVB) has signed the right to host eight major MICE events for the 2013 to 2017 period. Consisting of one national event and seven international business events, the events are expected to attract approximately 7,150 international delegates and bring an estimated US$24 million to the state of Victoria. Tarsus Group has promoted Trade Show News Network Editor-in-Chief Rachel Wimberly to president of the division, effective immediately. Wimberly will be taking over for Stephen Nold, who will be leaving TSNN and Tarsus Advon to pursue other business interests. Tarsus Group has best wishes to Stephen in his new endeavors. The Madison, Wis.-based World Dairy Expo, annually held at the Alliant Energy Center, has so much pent-up demand for indoor exhibition space, a new, temporary Trade Center will be erected that will house an additional 130 booths. U.K.-based Tarsus Group recently released its 2011 full-year trading update, with not only 8-percent growth in revenue, but also the company’s board expects adjusted pre-tax profits for the year ending Dec. 31 to be in line with its expectations. “The year ended well, resulting in record revenue and profitability,” said Douglas Emslie, Tarsus Group managing director. Graeme Selby, a 36-year veteran of the exhibition industry, has stepped down from his post as chairman of Diversified Exhibitions Australia, according to its parent company, Diversified Business Communications. Convening Leaders, (Professional Convention Management Association's) annual convention, begins this weekend in San Diego and I look forward to the experience every year.
