The latest edition of Reed Exhibitions’ NEPCON China, a show for the electronics manufacturing trade, drew 26,374 attendees during the three-day event held recently at the Shanghai World Expo Convention & Exhibition Center. Of those visitors, 4,824 were VIPs (17 percent more than in 2010) and 576 were Diamond Club members (a 35-percent jump from the same period). The biennial FoodHotelVietnam2011, organized by Singapore Exhibition Services and co-organized by VCCI Exhibition Service Co Ltd., scored a 26-percent attendance increase, compared with the 2009 show, during its Sept. 26-28 event at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City. The Asian Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus has changed its membership structure to better serve the MICE industry organizations across the Asian region, according to AACVB officials. The new membership structure will extend membership opportunities to provincial and city-level CVBs and will be in three membership tiered groups – Full CVB Member, Associate CVB Member and Associate Industry . UBM Asia’s Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, held in September at AsiaWorld-Expo, drew a record number of 3,454 exhibitors from 46 countries, representing a 13-percent increase, compared with 2009. Exhibition and conference events held at AsiaWorld-Expo contributed approximately HK$13.4 billion to the local economy in 2010, according to the Economic Contribution Assessment Report conducted by professional services firm KPMG Transaction Advisory Services Limited. TIPREX 2011, Thai International Plastics and Rubber Exhibition drew a record crowd of 10,500 attendees Aug. 31-Sept. 3 to the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre. The number of attendees, 15 percent of which were from overseas, was a 30-percent increase, compared with the last time the event was held in 2009. More people than ever before attended shows at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during fiscal year 2010-2011, with 5,969,789 coming through the doors of the venue, a 25-percent increase, compared with the prior fiscal year. The big uptick in attendance was attributed to an expanded portfolio of events, 1,235, that were also held during fiscal year 2010-2011, according to HKCEC officials. A record amount of hosted buyers, exhibitors and trade visitors were on hand at Reed Exhibitions’ CIBTM (China, Incentive Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition) Aug. 30-Sept 1 at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing, according to show officials.
