New Jakarta Venue to Open in January

December 27, 2014

Construction work on the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) venue in Jakarta is reportedly 80% complete. The venue is scheduled to open for business in January when it will host a Michael Bublé concert with 10,000 fans.

The venue cost is close to US$320 million and it will feature 50,000 m2 across ten halls as well as an additional 50,000 m2 of outdoor space and a 4,000 m2 convention hall. Located in Jakarta’s BSC (Bumi Serpong Damai) district, ICE will also feature more than 30 meeting rooms, in-house F&B facilities, third-party F&B outlets, a carpark with a capacity of 3,000 and eventually, a 300 room 4-star hotel.

It was announced in July that Deutsche Messe had established a joint venture, “PT Deutsche Messe Venue Operations Indonesia”, along with the venue’s key investors, Sinarmas and Kompas Gramedia. The new joint venture, 51% owned by Hannover Fairs International (HFI), will manage the venue. HFI is a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe.

Mark Schloesser, president director of Deutsche Messe Venue Operations, said, “Deutsche Messe is committed to leverage the MICE industry in Indonesia by making ICE the preferred destination for conventions and exhibitions in the region… Our target groups now are local and national exhibitors and events within Indonesia, followed by those from the South-east Asian countries and other parts of the world.”
