IMPACT Invests in New Facilities

January 25, 2016

The IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Center in Bangkok unveiled a “new facilities enhancement plan,” which involves an investment of more than 3.5 billion Baht (US$96 million) over the next two to three years.

Paul Kanjanapas, managing director of Impact Exhibition Management Co., commented: “In the near future, we are going to see some of the biggest investments in mega projects in Impact’s history including a 200-million-baht [US$5.5 million] theme park sitting along the shore of the lake.” The theme park is expected to be completed by late 2017 or early 2018.

IMPACT also plans to boost hotel room capacity availability around the venue. Ibis Hotel will add 585 rooms to its site in 2016, a substantial addition to the current hotel property, Novotel Bangkok Impact. The Eastin Lakeside Hotel Kanjanapas will be transformed into a 300-room Pullman Hotel which is expected to be completed by early 2017.

Another large-scale investment is a “marina” which will include mooring facilities, a movie theatre, restaurants and shops. The development plan also includes a five-storey retail building, with shops and restaurants over more than 8,000 m2 as well as 12 badminton courts and a swimming pool at the planned Impact Sports Complex.
