Macau MICE Statistics for Q1 2016
In the first quarter of 2016, Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 191 MICE events were held, which is down by 20 events year-on-year. The total number of participants and attendees also decreased – falling by 50% to 124,960. This significant drop was largely attributed to the shifting of four exhibitions from Q1 to Q2.
There were 187 meetings and conferences held in the first quarter in total, which represents a drop of 7.0% year-on-year. The total number of participants fell to just under 15,500. In the quarter, four exhibitions were held – down by six year-on-year. The number of attendees also declined falling 52% to 109,503. The average gross size of the exhibitions in the quarter was 10,130 m2.
