PMMI, ISPE Pharma Expo Launch Draws Strong Industry Support

July 22, 2013

In May, PMMI, the Association for Packaging & Processing Technologies, owner and producer of the PACK EXPO trade shows, and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) announced the debut of Pharma EXPO.

Just a few, short months later, the new show is drawing strong industry support, with leading pharmaceutical/medical device solution providers lining up to take part.

“It’s even better than we expected. The initial response from the industry has been incredible,” said Jim Pittas, PMMI’s vice president, Trade Shows.

He added, “Most of the biggest names in the industry have signed contracts and committed to exhibit.”

Here are just a few of the companies that have committed to Pharma EXPO: Bausch + Strobel Machine Co., Bosch Pharmaceutical Packaging, Fette Compacting, Glatt Air Techniques, Harro Hofliger, Marchesini Group, MG America, The Excellence United Group and Uhlmann: Packaging Systems.

“The initial support of the supplier community confirms the value of the partnership between ISPE and PMMI to create Pharma EXPO,” said Nancy S. Berg, president and CEO of ISPE.

Pharma EXPO is a new event designed for pharmaceutical, medical device and nutraceutical manufacturers.

Its exhibitors will be suppliers of packaging, processing and other supply chain technologies, and ISPE will present a conference program alongside the trade show.

Held in the West Building of McCormick Place, Pharma EXPO will debut and collocate with PACK EXPO International 2014 Nov. 2-5 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

“We have exhibited in PACK EXPO for years with great results,” said Jim Nadlonek, Pharmaceutical Operations Specialist, Bausch + Stroebel Machine Company.

He added. “We anticipate even better results now that PMMI/PACK EXPO and ISPE are launching Pharma EXPO as a collocated event. This collocation will strengthen our ability to reach targeted customers.”

In the past, upwards of 18 percent of end-users who attend PACK EXPO have identified themselves as pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and one-third of all the exhibitors at PACK EXPO are suppliers to the pharmaceutical industry.

The 2014 edition of PACK EXPO International is expected to attract 48,000 attendees, with an additional 10,000 visitors coming to the collocated Pharma EXPO.

Together, the collocated events anticipate 2,000 exhibiting companies and more than 1.1 million net square feet of exhibit space.
