POWER-GEN International Snags Record-breaking Attendance in Orlando

January 13, 2013

POWER- GEN International, held Dec. 11-13 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, broke attendance records with 22,000 attendees and 1,400 exhibitors.

The three-day event attracted power professionals and executives from more than 75 countries. In addition, there were 27 international delegations, 200 industry experts and 39 conference sessions.

“We are extremely pleased with the success of POWER-GEN International last week and the collocated events including Renewable Energy World North America Conference & Expo, NUCLEAR POWER International and the Financial Forum,” said Richard Baker, senior vice president of PennWell Corp.’s Power Group, which owns and runs the show.

He added, “The momentum seen by these four events far underscores the importance of such a platform to the industry and reaffirms dynamic growth in the power generation sector.”

The event kicked off with a keynote panel addressing “The Challenge Ahead,” looking at the future of power generation, several new nuclear power projects underway and advances in the technology to reduce emissions.

The event also showcased 1,400 exhibiting companies across every sector of the power generation industry, displaying the latest products, services and technologies in generation, renewable energy and nuclear power.

Next year’s show will include POWER-GEN International, NUCLEAR POWER International, Renewable Energy World North America Conference & Expo and POWER-GEN Financial Forum that will come together to form  POWER GENERATION WEEK Nov. 12-14 at the Orange County Convention Center.

“POWER GENERATION WEEK is an innovative concept we are introducing for the 2013 events in honor of our 25th anniversary,” Baker said.

He added, “We anticipate that this umbrella platform across the four events will provide even greater access to all that these events have to offer, plus provide new and exciting conference program, exhibit, sponsorship and networking opportunities for our attendees. In our constant effort to listen to the needs of our audience and continue to evolve as the world’s largest power generation event, we are excited about this new approach and look forward to sharing our plans for 2013 soon.”
