The American Society of Association Executives’ Great Ideas Conference, held March 8-10 at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, scored its highest attendance ever, with 806 coming to the meeting. For the 18th quarter in a row, the trade show industry saw an overall uptick in growth in the fourth quarter of last year of 1.7 percent, compared with the same quarter in 2013, according to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research’s Index Report. Although the trend still was positive, the growth was lower than the 2.3 percent that had occurred in the third quarter of 2014. The debut of PACK EXPO East in Philadelphia drew 6,500 attendees, 386 exhibiting companies and 92,413 net square feet of exhibit space at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, according to show owner and producer PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies.
