Messe Duesseldorf Asia’s wire Southeast ASIA 2013, 10th International Wire & Cable Trade Fair for Southeast Asia and Tube Southeast ASIA 2013, 9th International Tube & Pipe Trade Fair for Southeast Asia saw a big attendance jump – 28 percent – at its recent show, compared with the 2011 staging. The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau introduced a new global marketing campaign “Thailand Connect”, which aims to expand the country’s MICE industry. The bureau hopes the industry will generate revenues of approximately US$3.2 billion and attract 987,000 overseas MICE travellers in 2014. The 16th edition of Pet Fair Asia, organised by VNU Exhibitions Asia, concluded this year to a 48 percent growth in total exhibition space reaching 37,000 m2. The four-day show ran from 22nd to 25th August 2013 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center – with the last two days open to the public. VNU reported the attendance of 602 exhibitors, up 19 percent from the 506 recorded in 2012. In terms of visitors, some 15,173 trade visitors attended the show, up 9 percent from 2012. The inaugural Indian water and wastewater treatment event, Watertech Expo and Conference, organised by Messe Frankfurt, welcomed more than 100 exhibitors to its recently concluded edition. The event was acquired by Messe Frankfurt in May this year and featured a wide range of products, services and technologies for the water industry from across India. The Watertech Expo and Conference was held from 26th to 28th September at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Center in Gandhinagar. Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), a member company of the Allworld Exhibitions Group, will launch a new trade show next year – OGmTech2014, the International Exhibition on Manufacturing Technology for Oil & Gas. OGmTech will take place from 2nd to 5th December 2014 at the Marina Bay Sands’ Sands Expo and Convention Center. International event organiser, Informa plc, has signed a cooperation agreement with the China Container Industry Association (CCIA) to launch Intermodal Asia 2014. The event will also be supported by the China International Marine Containers (CIMC) – a member company of the CCIA and reportedly the world’s largest container manufacturer. The inaugural event will run from 1st to 3rd April 2014 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. After surviving tough economic times in the European Union, the recent biennial Labelexpo Europe 2013 show scored record-breaking attendance numbers, as well as increases in exhibitors and showfloor size, compared with the 2011 event. This year’s show, owned by U.K.-based Tarsus Group, was held Sept. 24-27, covering seven halls at Brussels Expo in Belgium and attracting 31,795 attendees, up 11 percent, compared with 2011. Just days before the official ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the grand opening of Cleveland’s Global Center for Health Innovation, venue management company SMG has been recommended for not only that venue’s contract, but also the one for the adjacent Cleveland Convention Center. Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. guided the process of opening the two centers, but recommended to the Cuyahoga County officials that SMG take over management of the venues going forward.
